Hello, my name is Mariann Scott and I am one of the Mentors with the ReMend Mentoring Program. I am thankful to be apart of this positive program for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) helping patients in the San Diego area.
Kidney Patient Experience:
In January 1992 newly married, I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis put on dialysis for a year and received the gift of my brothers kidney. Seventeen years later, my brothers kidney function came to an end. I was placed back on dialysis for nine months. This time with a nutritional background I was in control of my restricted diet. I lived by the motto “You Play You Pay”. So no matter how amazing the cheese plater looked I would reach for the grapes, apples and crackers. I knew if I made the wrong choice I would feel lousy and it just was not worth it.
On October twenty third 2013, I was blessed to receive my second kidney, a perfect match from a deceased donor at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
“Cherish every moment and include laughter in your life daily.”
I live in La Mesa and I am available to mentor to anyone.
