Hello, my name is James and I am one of the Mentors with the ReMend Mentoring Program for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients in the San Diego County area.
KIDNEY PATIENT EXPERIENCE
I have the kidney disease called Hypertensive Nephroschleriois. In December 1994 my kidney function dropped below 10%. On Janurary 6th, 1995 I began hemodialysis. On June 11th, 1997 I received my first kidney transplant. The donor kidney came from my youngest daughter. Unfortunately in 1999, I was involved in a head-on collision car wreck. As a result of that accident, I lost my transplanted kidney. I went back on hemodialysis at Gateway East Dialysis Center. On November 5th, 2011 I received my second transplant at Sharp Memorial Hospital. My kidney is working well with a creatinine level that is normal.
“I received my first transplant from my youngest daughter. 18 years later her daughter, my grand daughter, offered to donate her kidney to me”
I live in San Diego, CA. I am willing to travel anywhere in San Diego County to provide mentoring support for those that require the support of a mentor.
