My name is George Taitano and I am a mentor with Remend Mentors in San Diego for End Stage Renal Disease.
KIDNEY PATIENT EXPERIENCE
I had many years with diabetes Type 2 and high blood pressure beginning about 1990. About April 2007 my doctor advised me that my kidneys were failing and entered me into a dialysis center on July 15, 2007. I retired from work and decided to concentrate on my dialysis treatment. I asked to be placed on the transplant list while on hemodialysis and on January 31, 2013, received a call from Sharp Memorial Hosp. that they had a kidney for me. After I received my kidney transplant, I was able to normalize my life without dialysis through medication and good eating habits.
Family, friends, my faith in God, and the utmost dedication from the endless support from my medical team inspired me that this second chance in life is worth all the effort to fight for it.
I live in Carlsbad and I am willing to travel within San Diego County to help those in need of mentoring. I speak English and Chamorro.
